Modi urged youth to “aim large” and devote their best years to the cause of the nation while speaking from Delhi’s Red Fort, which dates back to the 17th century, as India marks its 75th year of independence from British colonial rule.

In his 90-minute speech delivered in Hindi, the 71-year-old Modi declared, “We must transform India into a developed country in the next 25 years, in our lifetime.”

It’s a significant resolution, and we should make every effort to achieve it.

The prime leader reportedly used howitzers produced in India for the first time as part of Modi’s “Make In India” manufacturing policy during the 21-gun salute, and he urged Indians to “shed colonialism in our minds and customs.”

“Hundreds of years of colonization have twisted and constrained our thinking and feelings. We must get rid of colonialism whenever we notice even the slightest trace of it within or around us, Modi stated.

Modi also urged India to eradicate the “termite” of corruption and nepotism, adhere to the “India First” motto, and make sure that “in speech and conduct, we do nothing that lowers a woman’s dignity.” He made these remarks while sporting a cream-colored turban that was flecked with the national colors of India.

Every person, every government, and every aspect of society must work together to make India self-sufficient, he declared.

India currently falls under the World Bank’s lower-middle income economic category, which is reserved for nations with a gross national income per capita between $1,086 and $4,255.

The US and other high-income nations have per capita incomes of at least $13,205.

The sixth-largest economy in the world, India is predicted to grow at a rate of above 7% in the current fiscal year ending in March 2023, the fastest among developed nations.

Even though India’s per capita income, at around $2,100, may continue to be low in comparison to many other countries, many experts predict that India’s economy will grow to become the third-largest in the world after the US and China by 2050.

India is anticipated to overtake China as the world’s most populated nation next year with a population of over 1.4 billion.

India is already viewed as a potential rival to China’s hegemonic power in Asia and beyond by nations like the US.

On Sunday, US President Joe Biden thanked India on its national day and referred to the two countries as “indispensable allies” who will continue to cooperate to address global issues in the coming years.
