Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Mohammad Wasim, chief selector of the team for the T20 World Cup, said that they have no plans to change the team, but they could if they need to.

Wasim told that the middle order is a problem for the Pakistan team and that they are trying out different lineups during the England series before the mega tournament.

Shan Masood, a top-order batter, was added to the team for the first time for the shortest format. Mohammad Wasim Junior and Shaheen Shah Afridi, both fast bowlers, were also added. Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Haris, and Shahnawaz Dahani were named as the three traveling reserves.

Wasim Junior was added to the team after he fully recovered from the side strain he got during the ACC T20 Asia Cup. Shaheen, who is recovering from a knee injury in London and should be able to bowl again early next month, will join the team on October 15 in Brisbane.

Until October 15, the Event Technical Committee does not have to agree to any changes to the team.

Mohammad Wasim said that the team’s play in the Asia Cup 2022 final and the first T20 against England was not good enough.

“The Pakistan team is having trouble batting, which is something that is being worked on. In the most recent series, the team management has also tried different combinations to solve the problem and give bench strength a chance to shine. The World Cup is coming up soon, and two straight losses don’t worry us too much.”

The chief selector said that there are no plans to make any changes to the World Cup team yet, but that the option is there.

“I don’t know what could be changed. I hope that the players chosen for the tournament do well [in the series that is still going on]

He also said that injuries can cause changes. Fakhar Zaman is on the team, and we hope he gets better soon, but if he can’t play in the World Cup, some other names are being thought about.

He said that Sharjeel Khan and Saim Ayub are among our 18 players, but not among our 15.

“You don’t have to pick an opener instead of an opener. Some names are being looked at.”

Wasim said that he didn’t mind being criticized for the team he chose or for himself, but that he regretted going after players.
