Web Desk (LTN NEWS): After losing ground for 15 straight sessions, the rupee was able to make a small gain against the US dollar on Saturday.
The dollar was worth just Rs239.65 at the end of the day, down from Rs239.71 the day before.
Currency dealers weren’t sure if the change in the exchange rate trend would last or not, but they thought that the slight drop in the price of the greenback was due to the market’s reaction to the news that the UN had asked international lenders to restructure Pakistan’s debts to give the flood-stricken country more money to deal with the disaster.
Floods destroyed major crops in Pakistan, such as wheat, sugar, rice, cotton, etc., and the country says the damage is worth $30 billion.
Sindh is the worst hit province because a large part of its agricultural belt is still under water.
