She will be laid to rest on Monday, after a grand state funeral with world leaders and a historic last journey through the streets of London.
The longest-ruling monarch in British history died on September 8 at Balmoral, her home in the Scottish Highlands. She was 96 years old. Her health had been getting worse for a year.
The last state funeral in Britain was for Winston Churchill in 1965. He was the country’s leader during World War II.
Then, as his body was carried up the River Thames by barge, the cranes that used to unload goods from Britain’s huge empire, which Elizabeth inherited, were lowered out of respect.
