Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Monday, a video of the veteran actor Resham was posted online. In it, she was seen throwing meat and bread into a large body of water from the top of a bridge. The video went viral right away because she also threw in plastic bags, wrappers, plastic spoons, and forks along with the fish food.
Bloggers shared the video and praised her “kindness” until a few of them pointed out how bad her actions could be for the aqua world. Even though the clip was temporarily taken down from several platforms, Resham explained why she did what she did.
Resham said on Tuesday that there were more important things to worry about than the criticism she’s been getting on Twitter and other social media apps. She said, “I admit that I made a mistake when I threw plastic into the flood water, but women are gang raped every day.”
“There is a lot of violence against women, but everyone is blinded by a piece of plastic. They live in a place where only fools can be happy. I was just giving charity (sadaqah),” she said in her unconditional apology.
She also said that Covid-19 had made her lose her mind. “I tested positive for Corona twice and I happen to be absent-minded because of that.”
“I am in Charsadda as we speak. I have been quietly helping a lot of people in the disaster-stricken area. People are only interested in trolling me, though. I also do a lot of good,” she said.
Resham criticized by celebrities
Singer Meesha Shafi and actor Armeena Khan, without naming anyone.
Meesha tweeted, “Distributing aid on camera to victims of horrific floods caused by giant climate change calamity right after throwing groceries and plastic shoppers/trays into a river (also on camera).”
Resham said that she has been having trouble with her mental health because she lost her only brother a long time ago. She asked, “Why am I getting this special treatment for something I did by accident?”
