The actor is seen in a recent image from the movie playing Maymouna, the ideal Pakistani bahu.
We finally got to watch more of the eagerly awaited movie What’s Love Got to Do with It on Thursday night. And one actress caught our attention right away: Sajal Aly, who was dressed in a pink kameez shalwar and was grinning at the camera.
The movie, which was written and co-produced by Jemima Khan and directed by Shekhar Kapur of India, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Aly, the star of Sinf-e-Aahan, portrays Maymouna, a crucial character, according to Variety. “I love to play characters that have depth and define the narrative of a project,” Aly said in an exclusive interview with the publication. “I think I am very fortunate that my character Maymouna in my international English-language debut What’s Love Got to do with it? Has also given me the same opportunity.”
The actor enjoys a sizable fan base in Pakistan and has been in popular films like Alif, Ishq-E-Laa, Yaqeen Ka Safar, and others. However, she has also gained a sizable fan base outside of Pakistan, particularly in India and the Middle East, because to her stirring portrayals in her movies and TV shows, including her Bollywood debut with the late star Sridevi, Mom.
The movie is slated to debut in UK theaters on January 27, 2023. There is currently no information on whether the movie will also be seen in Pakistani theaters.
