Web Desk (LTN NEWS): China sent its deepest condolences to the flood victims in Balochistan and Sindh on Wednesday and said it would send emergency aid, including tents and other things that are needed right away.

“China has noticed that Pakistan has been hit by a lot of bad floods recently, which have killed a lot of people and destroyed a lot of property.

“We want to send our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, as well as to the injured and people living in the disaster area,” a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement.

He said that China and Pakistan were true friends who shared both their happiness and their sadness. They also had a good history of helping each other in times of big natural disasters, he said.

He also said that State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal that he was sorry about the floods.

The spokesperson said that all of the 4,000 tents, 50,000 blankets, 50,000 tarpaulins, and other supplies sent by China as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s social and people’s livelihood cooperation have been sent to the front lines of disaster relief.

Taking into account the current disaster situation in Pakistan, he said, China has decided to send an extra batch of emergency humanitarian aid, including 25,000 tents and other urgently needed relief supplies, and will try to get it there as soon as possible.

He also said that the Red Cross Society of China gave the Pakistan Red Crescent Society $300,000 in emergency cash help.

The spokesperson said that China will continue to encourage bilateral cooperation in areas like preventing disasters and dealing with climate change.

“It is thought that the people in the disaster-hit areas will be able to get through their problems and get back to normal life as soon as possible with the help of the Pakistani government and the rest of the world,” he said.

He said that after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, the Pakistani side did everything it could to get all the tents in reserve to the disaster area as soon as possible, and the Chinese side remembers this.

Strong monsoon rains caused severe flooding in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Sindh provinces, which killed more than 700 people and forced more than 300,000 people to move.
