Web Desk (LTN NEWS): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Friday that fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr. was out of the T20 Asia Cup because of a left-side strain. This meant that Hasan Ali would take his place.
Wednesday, Wasim Jr. got hurt while bowling during a practice session. The bowler was checked out by the team’s medical staff, and his diagnosis was confirmed by an MRI scan in Dubai.
In a short statement, the cricket board said, “The results were discussed with the PCB Medical Advisory Committee, and an independent review by a specialist physiotherapist was also requested.”
The medical team will now keep a close eye on Wasim’s recovery, and his return will be re-evaluated before the England tour to Pakistan.
On the other hand, Wasim’s job has been given to Hasan Ali. But the Event Technical Committee has to agree for him to be there. Hasan will leave for the UAE as soon as the ETC says he can be a replacement player.
Hasan was asked to join the team as a replacement player by the team management, and the chief selector agreed.
Since three weeks ago, he has been working on his bowling at the National High-Performance Centre. He is now in Rawalpindi getting ready for the National T20, which starts on August 30.
