Rupee increases by 30 paise against dollar

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On the interbank market, the rupee went from Rs214.95 to Rs214.65, which is a 30 paise gain.

On the open market, however, the dollar was up by Rs1 to Rs219, which shows how big the difference is between the two markets.

Currency dealers said that the exchange rate has been almost the same all week. This is good for the local currency, which has been rising most of the time this fiscal year.

The State Bank of Pakistan and the government are trying to stop dollars from leaving the country. They are doing this in two ways: first, by lowering the cost of importing goods, and second, by making it harder to smuggle dollars out of the country, mostly to Afghanistan.
