Islamabad (LTN NEWS): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has decided once again to raise electricity rates by about 50 paise per unit for everyone except those with a lifeline or who use K-Electric.
The increase will go into effect on September 1 and last for three months. It will cost electricity users an extra Rs12.76 billion.
Also, industrial customers who use the relief package won’t have to pay more because of the increase. Nepra gave the go-ahead for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2021–2022. The decision has been sent to the federal government so that it can be told.
It’s important to know that on July 28, the power rates for K-electric customers were raised by Rs11.37, which was Rs0.01 less than what the power utility had asked for.
The fuel adjustment charges for June 2022 were given the green light, but lifeline customers will not have to pay more. The power company says the price hike is due to a 42% rise in furnace oil prices on international markets from March to June 2022.
