Arshad Sharif’s mother rejects govt inquiry commission

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Arshad Sharif’s mother asked the federal government not to politicize the murder case and turned down the three-person inquiry commission. Sharif was a senior journalist and former anchorperson.

The inquiry commission set up by the federal government disappointed Arshad Sharif’s mother, who said that the commission’s rules differed from what Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said. She asked the federal government not to make killing her son a political issue.

She asked the federal government to set up a powerful judicial commission to investigate Sharif’s death. The commission should include people from the United Nations Human Rights Council. She said a group should be put together that the family and the journalists can trust to look into what happened.

Arshad Sharif’s mother said everyone in the family is unfortunate and hurt. “Instead of making our pain worse, we need justice. The government put together a commission with two of its own officers and a judge who had already left the job. You cannot expect an independent investigation from such a commission.”

She was angry that the federal government had filed several sedition cases against her son, which made it hard for him to stay in the country. She also said that Sharif left the country for Dubai because he was having much trouble there but had to leave Dubai.

According to the dead journalist, the journalist’s mother asked PM Shehbaz Sharif to set up a judicial commission. She also asked the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the journalist community to do their jobs. She told him his son’s death on the cross would not be in vain.

The federal government put together a three-person inquiry commission, led by a former LHC judge named Justice Retired Abdul Shakoor Paracha, to investigate who killed Arshad Sharif.
