Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Several places in Karachi got light to moderate rain on Wednesday afternoon, and more rain is expected in the port city until August 14.
Meteorologists say that Karachi will get a lot of rain during the fourth monsoon spell, which runs from August 11-14.
Sardar Sarfaraz, the head of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), said earlier today that Karachi’s weather will stay humid during the day and rain more at night.
In its weather report on August 8, the PMD said that heavy rains could cause flooding in Karachi from August 11 to 13.
For Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas, the forecast was also given.
How much rain will Karachi get?
The chief meteorologist said that Karachi will probably get between 100mm and 150mm of rain over the next four to five days.
Jawad Memon, a weather analyst, said that the low-pressure system that is moving through the central and southern parts of the country has turned into a depression and is likely to bring heavy rain to the port city between August 11 and 14.
Memon said that the system that brings rain is headed for Sindh.
“Another low-pressure system is in place over Gujrat, and the two systems are becoming linked,” he said.
PMD prediction
In its daily weather report, the PMD said, “Monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are moving into the central and southern parts of the country, and they are likely to get stronger starting tonight.”
The Met Office said that in the upper and lower parts of the country, there is also a wave coming from the west.
The PMD says that rain, wind, and thunderstorms are likely today in Sindh, northeast and south Balochistan, northeast and south Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.
During the time of the forecast, the Met Office said that heavy rain is likely to fall in a few places in lower Sindh and South Balochistan.
