Web Desk (LTN NEWS): In a tweet from the Islamabad Police, it was stated that “A case of making false allegations against Islamabad Capital Police against Jameel Farooqi is registered in 22/701 Police Station Ramna, the accused made false accusations against Islamabad Capital Police in his Vlog.” It was said that the accused Shahbaz Shabbir (Shahbaz Gill) was physically and sexually abused by the police.
The tweet further said that ‘Islamabad Capital Police had indicated action against those making inflammatory, fabricated and false allegations.
Later, the said tweet made by the Islamabad Police was deleted, however, according to the FIR registered in the Ramna Police Station, Jameel Farooqi uploaded a video on his YouTube channel on August 19 in which he accused the Islamabad Police. What was said was that they sexually and physically abused Shahbaz Gill during detention.
It was further stated in the FIR that Shahbaz Gill himself has not made any such allegation in any judicial or administrative forum and there is no such evidence.
According to the FIR, Jameel Farooqi has tried to obstruct the investigation of the case against Shehbaz Gill, mislead the investigation, and give a false impression.
It should be noted that Jameel Farooqi is also associated with the Bol TV channel as an anchor in addition to Vlogging on YouTube and has also been associated with Sama TV, Dawn News, and Aaj News in the past.
Bol TV President Sami Ibrahim said on Twitter that Jameel Farooqi has been arrested in Karachi on the FIR of Islamabad Police. ‘Political satire is his journalistic right’.
Sami Ibrahim said that it is a shameful act to arrest Jameel Farooqi on the basis of this political satire.
Commenting on Islamabad Police’s deletion of Jameel Farooqi’s arrest tweet, Sami Ibrahim said that “Islamabad Police has removed the tweet related to Jameel Farooqi’s arrest, is this a new plan?”
