Government is focusing on Imran instead of poverty: Mahmood Qureshi

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), slammed the government on Wednesday for only focusing on filing terrorism cases against PTI Chairman Imran Khan and not paying attention to “back-breaking inflation” that has made people’s lives hell.

In a video statement, Mr. Qureshi said that the government didn’t care at all about how hard things were for the people, who were in the middle of many crises.

“Take a look at the fact that they filed FIRs against Imran Khan because he was right to ask for legal action to be taken against officials. “We need to think about whether anyone or anything is above the law,” he said.

The former foreign minister said that the “back-breaking price hike” had made the lives of the poor masses miserable because inflation had reached a record 42% and people couldn’t pay their electricity bills.

He went on to say that the government’s lack of care for the people was shown by the fact that the price of a liter of petrol went up by Rs6 even though fuel prices had gone down around the world. Farmers were shocked by the rise in fuel prices since it was nearly impossible for them to pay their tube well bills when diesel cost Rs244 per liter.

Qureshi said that the salaried class and everyone affected by inflation would have to speak out together. He also said that different groups were already in touch with them.

The PTI vice chairman said this about the upcoming by-elections: “As you know, by-elections will be held on September 11 for three seats and on September 25 for nine seats. I request all my friends to stamp on the bat (the PTI election symbol) to send a clear message to the imported government against rising prices, incompetence, and bad management.”

42,000 ‘Imran Tigers’ in 15 hours

In 15 hours, about 42,000 people signed up to be “Imran Tigers,” according to the PTI.

Imran Khan, the head of the PTI, asked young people to join the “Imran Tigers” team on Tuesday so that they could spread his message of “real freedom” door to door. For this reason, the party gave volunteers a WhatsApp number and a website where they could sign up as “Tigers.”

PTI says that 288,000 people are now “Imran Tigers”

“Up to now, PTI’s www.ImranTigers.com has been used by 288,000 people. This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that a political party has invited so many people,” a party statement said on Wednesday.

Educators, writers, and artists held a press conference at the National Press Club to condemn the alleged torture of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill while he was in police custody. They also asked the chief justice of Pakistan to protect human rights.

Civil society leader Sarwar Bari, news anchor Dr. Moeed Pirzada, singer Salman Ahmed, Nadia Khattak, and others were among the protesters.

Mr. Bari said that what was going on in the country was “state terrorism.” He also said that no TV station should be shut down and that people should be able to watch the stations they want.

Salman Ahmed said that the FIA had also told him that he was spreading fake news through his social media account.

Ayesha Siddique Khan, an advocate, said that people were living in a place where they were afraid to speak up.

The speakers called for laws to stop police from torturing people in custody and harsh punishments for those who did it.
