Xi, Saudi royals, Modi and UK queen show grief on flood situation

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Monday, China’s President Xi Jinping, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Britain’s Queen Elizabeth all sent messages of support to Pakistan after deadly floods killed people there.

In their messages to President Arif Alvi and PM Shehbaz Sharif, President Xi and Prime Minister Li Keqiang hoped that the government and people of Pakistan would be able to deal with the problem and start rebuilding the damaged areas as soon as possible.

During an event in Islamabad, the Chinese ambassador Nong Rong said that the Chinese government was speeding up the delivery of 25,000 tents and other supplies to Pakistan.

The Red Cross Society of China is giving $300,000 to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society as emergency cash aid. The envoy also said that the All China Enterprises Association in Pakistan gave Rs15 million to the premier’s relief fund.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had already told President Alvi that they were sorry for the deaths and injuries caused by the floods.

In their own messages, the king and the prince told the president, the families of the people who died, and the people of Pakistan that they were “deeply sorry and truly sorry.”

Modi of India wrote on Twitter, “Sad to see what the floods in Pakistan have done. We send our deepest condolences to the families of the dead, the injured, and everyone else who has been hurt by this natural disaster. We hope that things will get back to normal soon.”

In a message to President Arif Alvi, Queen Elizabeth said, “I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life and damage caused by the floods across Pakistan.” The message was sent by the British High Commission in Islamabad. The queen said, “My thoughts are with everyone who has been hurt and with those who are working hard to help with the recovery.”
