A Russian TV journalist punishes for statements made against Ukraine

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Marina Ovsyannikova was found guilty by a court in Moscow of damaging the reputation of the Russian armed forces as a result of their operations in Ukraine, and she was sentenced to pay a fine.

A journalist named Marina Ovsyannikova was forced to pay a fine by a court in Moscow for bringing disrepute upon the Russian armed forces when she criticized Russia’s intervention in Ukraine during a live television broadcast.

On Thursday, a court in the Meshchansky district of Moscow ordered Ovsyannikova, a former editor at the state-controlled Channel One, to pay a fine of 50,000 roubles, which is equivalent to $806.

“The evidence confirms Ovsyannikova’s guilt. There is no reason to doubt its authenticity,” the Judge said

Ovsyannikova violently denied the allegations made against her, describing them as “absurd.”
