Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Shoaib Malik made fun of the way friendships within the team were given more importance than the performance of players who deserved it.
After the Green Shirt lost to Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2022, veteran Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik criticized the national team for putting “friendships over merit.”
The former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team said that the “like” and “dislike” culture has destroyed the team.
Malik was taken off the team for the big event in Asia.
“When will we get out of the culture of friendship, liking, and not liking? Allah always helps people who are good,” Malik sent out a tweet after the home team lost the tournament to Sri Lanka by 23 runs.
Pakistan couldn’t reach the goal of 171 runs and only scored 147. Sri Lanka’s bowling line-up took out the Green Shirts and won the coveted Asia Cup trophy.
