Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Monday, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad extended PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s temporary release until September 20. He was charged with terrorism for threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry at a public rally on August 20.

Under the Anti-Terrorism Act, a case filed against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan for threatening the additional session’s judge and senior police officers of the Islamabad Police during a public rally.

At the beginning of today’s hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Babar Awan, asked Islamabad ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas to let Imran Khan’s car into the Federal Judicial Complex.

“If you had told us this earlier, we would have given permission,” the judge said. He then asked if Imran Khan had joined the investigations. The lawyer said that Imran Khan’s lawyer had joined the investigation.

Khan’s lawyer said, “IHC has issued notice on the plea seeking dismissal of the case.” He also said that police were trying to trick the high court by saying Khan wasn’t helping with the investigations.

Islamabad Police have sent Imran Khan three notices to meet with a joint investigation team to look into the case, but he has not.

PTI went to the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where Khan got a transit bail until August 25. However, he was told to go to the ATC because the case involved terrorism.

Court scolds IO

Investigation officer told the court that he got Imran Khan’s statement through a lawyer. PTI chairman was then asked to come to court in person.

Judge, Raja Jawad Abbas, told the IO, “The statement was sent to you, but you didn’t make it part of the case.” He said that this shows that the IO had bad intentions.

The court said that the crime in question has to do with what Imran Khan said.

Judge asked, “Why do you want the accused to show up in person?”

At this point, the assistant prosecutor insisted that they had to talk to the person who was accused.

“If the IO has called the accused, he must show up,” he said.

The hearing was then put off until 11 a.m., and the court said the rest of the arguments would be heard after Imran Khan showed up in court.

Imran Khan had written a statement

Babar Awan told the court that his client’s written statement wasn’t included in the record. He also told the police officers that the court can punish them for bad investigations.

He asked, “Why didn’t the supplementary challan say that the suspect’s lawyer had turned in a written statement on behalf of his client?

JIT decide how to investigate

The special prosecutor said that it was up to the investigation officer or the JIT to decide how the investigations should go.

Court put off the hearing until September 2 at 2:00 p.m. The judge told the people in charge to set up the security measures right before the hearing so that people who came to the court could feel safe.

The story

In the FIR against Khan, it says that he told Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally in F-9 Park that he would “terrorize” the police and the courts.

The main goal was to stop police officers and judges from doing their jobs, according to the FIR.

Under Section 7 of the ATA, the FIR was filed at the Margalla Police Station in Islamabad after Magistrate Ali Javed filed a complaint.

What did Imran Khan say?

At a rally in Islamabad’s F-9 park, Khan said that he would “not spare” the inspector-general, the deputy inspector-general, and the female magistrate for “torturing” Gill. He promised to file charges against them.

“We will not let the IG and DIG off the hook,” he told the crowd.

The former prime minister called out the sessions judge, who had given Gill a two-day physical remand at the request of the capital police, and told her that she, too, should “get ready” because a case will be filed against her.

The PTI leader led the rally in Islamabad from Zero Point to F-9 Park in support of jailed leader Gill, who the party says was subjected to “gruesome torture” while in police custody.
