Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Nazia Hassan, recognized as the Queen of Pop in South Asia, is a well-known name in Pakistani music. Her repertoire is ageless, with big tracks ranging from ‘Aap Jaisa Koi,’ her debut song at the age of 15, to ‘Boom Boom.’ The vocalist is remembered for her timeless tunes two decades after her death. On the 22nd anniversary of her passing, we’re honoring the legend with six of her songs that are dear to our hearts.
Nazia, who was born on April 3, 1965, died on August 13, 2000, following a fight with cancer. 22 years later, the world still remembers the pop icon.
Here are our six favorite songs by the vocalist.
“Aap Jaisa Koi”
The disco instrumental and Nazia’s sweet vocals combine seamlessly in this timeless classic that will make anyone of any age groove. It transports us back to the days when we would travel in the family car with a cassette of the pop singer’s hits.
“Boom Boom”
This peppy disco hit from 1982 is still incredibly popular 40 years later. This legendary tune also features the evergreen beauty and her sweet vocals. We adore Meesha Shafi’s performance, but the original will always have a special place in our hearts.
‘Deewane Disco’
Love for ‘Disco Deewane’ is so pervasive that borders cannot keep it at bay. However, Karan Johar’s revised version for his film Student of the Year falls short of the original 1981 Nazia rendition.

As if Nazia’s voice wasn’t enough, the imagery of her dressed as a princess makes this 1983 song even more memorable.
‘Dum Dum Dee Dee’
If we had to pick a favorite, it would be ‘Dum Dum Dee Dee’ because of Nazia’s voice and the music video, which still seems like it belongs in a Disney movie. The music video begins with a message stating that the song is Nazia and her brother Zoheb Hassan’s interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.
‘Dosti’
‘Dosti,’ by Nazia, was the first friendship anthem we heard as children. Years later, it is still the best one, not just for us, but for many others who remember her and her music.
