Rupee keeps getting better against Dollar

Web Desk (LTN NES): Pakistani rupee has been going up for the ninth straight business day. On Wednesday, it gained 1.74 percent, to end the day at a new one-month high of Rs223.90 against the US dollar on the interbank market.

The buying rate is Rs223.75, and the selling rate is Rs224.25 in the interbank market today. On the other hand, the buying rate is Rs226, and the selling rate is 228 in the open market.

After Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the rupee should be worth less than Rs200/$, the local currency kept going in the same direction. He promised to raise the value of the currency, which is now worth less than it used to.

With this latest rise, the rupee has gained 5.86%, or Rs14.07, in value over the last eight days. In the week that ended last Friday, the currency gained Rs11.20, which was the second most of any currency (September 30).

On Monday, the UN asked the world to help Pakistan by saying that the country needed five times more humanitarian aid than was thought before.
