PM Shehbaz meets foreign leaders to receive flood disaster aid

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, told Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif that the US will stand by Pakistan as it deals with the aftermath of massive flash floods.US official was upset that flash floods had caused so much damage in Pakistan.

Blinken said this when he met with PM Shehbaz Sharif outside of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

US Secretary of State felt bad for the people who had been hurt by the floods.

Also, during the 77th session of the UNGA, President of the World Bank David R. Malpass met with PM Shehbaz. He said that the international community should all work together to help Pakistan get back on its feet first.

President felt bad about the damage and destruction caused by the flood and sent his condolences.

He also said that the World Bank Group was ready to help Pakistan with its efforts to rebuild and fix up. He promised to send 850 million dollars right away to help Pakistan with flood relief.

PM Shehbaz thanked the World Bank for working with Pakistan and told them about the government’s plans to make changes to economic policies that will help strengthen the economy, keep prices stable, and keep financial sectors strong.

He also talked about how the government needs more investment and money from the rest of the world to help lessen the terrible effects of climate change on Pakistan’s people and economy.

PM Shehbaz stressed that Pakistan doesn’t have much to do with climate change, but the effects of climate change are very bad for Pakistan.

He thanked the World Bank Group for helping with flood relief with $372 million.

During the UNGA session, Shehbaz Sharif also met with Csaba Kórosi, who is the President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA).

Csaba Krosi was chosen to be the President of the 77th Session of the UNGA, and PM congratulated him on that. PM Shehbaz talked about the many problems the world is facing right now, such as the COVID pandemic, the economic recession, climate change, tensions between the world’s biggest powers, and a number of old and new conflicts. He hoped that the Assembly, which he was leading, would come up with concrete solutions.

PM Shehbaz brought up the fact that the worst natural disaster in Pakistan’s history had been caused by rains that had never happened before.

PM Shehbaz said that the help of the rest of the world was very important if the country was to respond well to this climate disaster and recover and rebuild in a way that would last. He also said that Pakistan would help move the development agenda forward in the General Assembly and other relevant bodies and forums. Pakistan is currently the chair of the Group of 77 and China.

PGA told Pakistan that he felt “sympathy, solidarity, and cooperation” for them. He said that Pakistan was not to blame for the disaster. It deserved help from everyone. “A global problem should have a global solution.”

PM Shehbaz stressed that there needed to be more open, consultative, and productive talks between governments, which would take into account the positions and hopes of all member states.

PM Shehbaz also told the PGA about Pakistan’s most important problems, such as the conflict between Jammu and Kashmir, Afghanistan, and Islamophobia.
