Web Desk (LTN NEWS): In a surprising move, PTI Chairman Imran apologized for his controversial comments about Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday.

Today, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will officially charge former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran khan with contempt of court for his controversial comments about Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry at a rally in Islamabad on August 20.

“I’m sorry if I crossed the line,” Imran Khan said at the IHC

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah orders Imran Khan to apologize in writing and submit an affidavit to the court.

CJ Athar Minallah said, “The court appreciates your statement.” The contempt case hearing was put off until September 29.

Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tareq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar made the decision to indict Imran Khan because they didn’t like his answer.

In his first response to the IHC’s show-cause notice in the case, the PTI chairman did not apologize, but he did offer to take back his comments “if they were inappropriate.

In his latest and second response, a 19-page document, the PTI chairman Imran khan seems to have decided to tell the court that, based on his explanation, it should dismiss the notice and follow the Islamic principles of forgiveness.

But in neither response did the PTI chairman Imran khan apologize for everything. This is why the court made the decision, even though amici curiae argued that the former prime minister should be forgiven.

The circular said, “Imran Khan’s 15-person legal team and 15 lawyers from the office of the attorney-general and advocate-general will be allowed into the courtroom.”

No one else will be allowed into the courtroom besides those listed above unless they have a special pass from the IHC Registrar’s office.

“The administration and police of Islamabad will make sure the court is safe and orderly,” the circular said.

What did Imran Khan say?

At a rally in Islamabad’s F-9 park, Khan said that he would “not spare” the inspector-general, the deputy inspector-general, and the female magistrate for “torturing” Gill. He promised to file charges against them.

“We will not let the IG and DIG off the hook,” he told the crowd.

The former prime minister called out the sessions judge, who had given Gill a two-day physical remand at the request of the capital police, and told her that she, too, should “get ready” because a case will be filed against her.

The PTI leader led the rally in Islamabad from Zero Point to F-9 Park in support of jailed leader Gill, who the party says was subjected to “gruesome torture” while in police custody.

IHC’s letter

On August 22, IHC registrar Farhan Aziz Khawaja told acting Chief Justice Aamer Farooq about the “threatening comments” the PTI leader made about Zeba Chaudhry.

After talking with the other senior judges, the IHC acting CJ gave Imran Khan a notice of contempt of court and put together a larger bench with Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Babar Sattar, and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb to hear the contempt case.

Under the Anti-Terrorism Act, a first information report (FIR) was filed against Imran Khan for threatening an additional sessions judge and senior police officers of the Islamabad Police at a rally in F-9 Park in the federal capital.

Under Section 7 of the ATA, the FIR was filed at the Margalla Police Station in Islamabad after Magistrate Ali Javed filed a complaint.

In the FIR, it says that the PTI chairman told Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officers that he would “terrify” police and judges.

The main goal of the threats was to stop police officers and judges from doing their jobs, according to the FIR.

The PTI fought the case in the IHC, and the terror charges were taken out of the FIR.
