Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Saturday, the district administration in Attock declared a flood emergency. People who lived near the riverbed of the Indus were moved to safer places, and flood relief camps were set up.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema told reporters that after the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Pakistan Meteorological Department issued flood warnings about high floods in the river Indus and Kabul, a flood emergency was declared and special relief camps were set up in tehsils Hazro, Jand, and Pindigheb along the Indus.

He said that 21 special relief camps were set up in the district to help the people who were affected by the floods. Nine of these camps were in Hazro, four were in Attock and Pindigheb, three were in Jand, and one was in Hassanabdal. He said that most camps were set up in schools so that the local people could live there.

He said that people in flood-prone areas were told through mosques to move to safer places or camps with their belongings and livestock. He said that the local administration and the department of revenue had also been told to help with flood emergencies.

Ali Hassnain, the district emergency officer, said that Rescue 1122 had set up emergency response points where rescue teams and vehicles were sent to four red alert spots along the River Indus. He said these spots are in the villages of Sarag, Garylia, Attock Khurd, and Dher.

He said that two camels that were caught in a high flood in the River Indus near Bagh Neelab were saved and moved to safer places.
