Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that everything was on the line for a “game of thrones” after PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s speech in Faisalabad. In that speech, Khan said that the coalition government was delaying elections so that it could choose the army chief.
The PTI filed a petition against PEMRA ban on live broadcasts of party chairman Imran Khan’s speeches. IHC CJ Athar Minallah praised the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and said, “Pakistan’s armed forces give their lives for us.”
During the hearing, the judge asked Imran Khan’s lawyer if he had heard his client’s speech from the day before.
“You want to be able to say whatever you want, and you don’t want to be controlled by anyone,” the CJ commented.
“Do you want to bring down the morale of the Pakistan Army by saying this?” IHC asks Imran Khan
Justice Minallah told Imran Khan’s lawyer to take responsibility for himself.
IHC chief justice was upset by what Imran Khan said about the army, so he told Khan that he shouldn’t expect help from the courts because that’s not their job.
He stated that every citizen is patriotic and no one has the authority to give a certificate of patriotism. The judge asked Imran Khan if he meant for that statement to bring down the morale of the Pakistan Army.
When the judge got to Khan’s speech in Faisalabad, he asked if anyone could say that someone in the Pakistan army is not patriotic. He asked if what was said yesterday could be made sense of.
“When you say something in public, it has more weight,” the CJ said.
In the meantime, IHC told the PEMRA to regulate based on the Pakistan Supreme Court’s decision and finished Imran Khan’s application.
