Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Thursday, PM Shehbaz Sharif blasted Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), for using the flood crisis to score political points and hurt Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz also talked about two articles from The Economist that said former Prime Minister Imran Khan blew up a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and used the flood crisis to get ahead in politics.

In a tweet, PM Shehbaz said:

“Two stories about Imran Khan that were published in the well-known magazine The Economist back up what we have been saying about him. In its most recent issue, the magazine said that Niazi ruined the deal with the IMF and that he is using the disaster to get political points. He wants to hurt Pakistan.”

Later, at a meeting with owners and editors of media houses, PM Shehbaz said that he had asked leaders of all political parties to work together to get through the disaster, but Mr. Khan had chosen to hold public meetings when one-third of the country was under water.

PM Shehbaz criticizes Imran Khan

“He (Imran) has poisoned politics, and now the country has to decide where he is taking it. Let’s do politics after the crisis is over. First, we need to save millions of people and our economy from the flood and its destruction. Then we can do politics, PM Shehbaz said, adding that “this is the time for service, not politics.”

“We have a lot of problems, like IMF’s conditions, the oil and gas crisis, and flood,” PM Shehbaz said.

All political parties and all parts of society need to work together to get the country out of these mega crises.

He said that while the whole country and its armed forces were busy helping flood victims, Imran was holding public meetings to score political points.

PM Shehbaz said that it was important for all political parties and other groups to put aside their differences and work together to help the people of the country who were hurt by the floods.

PM Shehbaz said:

“Recently, I called a meeting of all provincial chief ministers to figure out what to do about the floods, but not all of them showed up. I don’t want to name them.”

PM Shehbaz said, “An air bridge has been set up so that aid from different countries can come to the country’s airports. Turkey is also sending aid by rail.”

A press release from the PM Office said, “This is the biggest donation made by an individual so far to help flood victims in the country.”

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, a minister of the United Arab Emirates, has also said that the country will send $10 million to Pakistan to help flood victims and get them back on their feet.
