The annual meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from September 1-16. PM Shehbaz Sharif will be there.

Prime minister will attend the SCO-CHS at the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who will lead the meeting,” the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.

At the meeting will be the heads of SCO member states and observer states, as well as the heads of SCO organizations and other special guests.

On the sidelines of the CHS, PM Shehbaz will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders who are also taking part.

CHS is the highest level of the SCO. It is where the Organization’s strategy, goals, and priorities are discussed and set.

SCO leaders will talk about important global and regional issues at the upcoming CHS. These include climate change, food security, energy security, and sustainable supply chains. They will also sign agreements and documents that show how SCO member states will work together in the future.

SCO is a large organization that covers both South and Central Asia. SCO was started in 2001. It is based on the values and principles of the “Shanghai Spirit,” which include mutual trust, mutual benefit, and the pursuit of common development.

Collectively, SCO member states are home to almost half of the world’s people and produce a quarter of the world’s economy.

SCO’s goals of promoting peace and stability and looking for better connections in infrastructure, economic, trade, and cultural areas are in line with Pakistan’s own goals of making the region more stable and economically connected.

Since becoming a full member of the SCO in 2017, Pakistan has been working hard to help the organization reach its main goals by taking part in different SCO mechanisms.
