SC cleared Shahrukh Jatoi in Shahzeb Khan Murder case

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Tuesday, Shahrukh Jatoi, on death row, was found not guilty by the Supreme Court. He was the main suspect in the high-profile Shahzeb Khan Murder case.

The other people who had been convicted in the case were also freed.

Shahzeb Khan, who was 20 years old, was shot and killed on December 24-25, 2012.

Shahrukh Jatoi, the son of a powerful feudal lord, and Siraj Talpur were given death sentences for the murder of Shahzeb by an anti-terrorism court in 2013. Sajjad Ali Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were given life sentences.

Shahzeb Khan’s parents, on the other hand, decided to forgive the people who killed their son. The family told the court that the men accused of killing their only son were not guilty.

In 2013, the victim’s mother, Ambreen Aurangzeb, reportedly told a private news channel, “We may not have forgiven them in our hearts, but in the name of Allah, we have pardoned our son’s killers. We can’t live our whole lives in fear, so we made the decision based on what we knew.”

Even though he was given a pardon, the death penalty was still in place because he was charged with terrorism. This was true until 2017 when the Supreme Court threw out the terrorism charges and ordered a new trial.

But in 2018, the Supreme Court did something independently and cancelled the SHC order.

After the SHC changed their death sentences to life sentences in 2019, the convicts asked the highest court to let them go because Shahzeb’s family had given them a pardon.

At the start of today’s hearing, the accused’s lawyer, Latif Khosa, told the three-person bench, led by Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, that the case had already been settled.

Khosa told the judge that his clients didn’t want to spread terror. He also said that the murder case was made to look like a terrorist act.
