Islamabad (LTN NEWS): Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah praised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday for announcing a fair decision in the foreign funding case, even though the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had put pressure on the ECP.

He said this at a news conference along with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira. The decision was unusual, and it was made in a hard situation.

Khursheed Shah said that Imran Khan was always trying to put pressure on institutions to get what he wanted. But the ECP should be praised for ruling against the PTI even though he put a lot of pressure on them.

He said that the head of the PTI lied to the country, but that after eight years, the ECP had shown that his party had received “illegal funds” from foreign people and companies.

He also said that it was ironic that Imran Khan had nominated the current chief election commissioner (CEC), which was supported by the opposition at the time, but that Imran Khan was now making accusations against him.

Khursheed Shah said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always wanted to make sure that political parties don’t get money from abroad in ways that aren’t legal. But it didn’t want anyone to act alone against “a certain political party,” and it didn’t mind if the PPP’s finances were looked at.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said, in response to the verdict that the PTI didn’t want a decision on its illegal funding case because they knew there were problems. Today, the ECP confirmed that the party had received money from Israel, India, the United States, and Canada, among other places.

He said that the ECP’s decision proved that Imran Khan was not “Sadiq and Ameen” because he made a false declaration, and he should step down as chairman of his party. He also said that the government would carry out the decision.

Kaira made it clear that there was no law that let any political party get money or donations from companies based outside of the country. “If someone wants to run for office in Pakistan, they can only get money from Pakistanis,” he said.
