Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former prime minister, and other co-defendants were given bail by a banking court in Islamabad on Monday in a case about illegal funding and the Foreign Exchange Act.

The Foreign Exchange Act case was sent to the banking court by the Islamabad High Court, and all of the accused’s temporary bails were set to run out on Monday (today).

Younis Ali Raza, Sardar Azhar Tariq, Tariq Shafi, and Faisal Maqbool were among the eleven co-accused who asked Judge Rukhshanda Shaheen for bail.

All the accused were told to show up before the judge, but during today’s proceedings, the judge agreed to Imran’s request not to show up.

The prosecution said that going to the long march was not a good enough reason not to appear in court. The court still granted Imran’s request.

Accused Faisal Maqbool had also asked to be excused from the meeting because of health problems. After hearing both sides, the banking court extended Imran Khan’s temporary bail until November 10.

The story

In the prohibited funding case, the FIA arrested PTI leaders like party chairman Imran Khan, the party’s financial team, and a private bank manager.

FIA Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad filed the case

A first information report (FIR) says that the former leaders of the ruling party broke the Foreign Exchange Act and were found to have suspicious bank accounts.

The FIA says that the Abraaj Group also sent $2.1 million to the bank accounts of the PTI.

In August of this year, the FIA started looking into the PTI after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that the party had received illegal funding.

Akbar S. Babar, a founder of PTI who is now unhappy with the group, filed the lawsuit on November 14, 2014. It is still going on.

According to a written order from the ECP, foreign countries like the US, UAE, UK, and Australia gave the political party money without permission.
