Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Islamabad and Beijing share a vision for a better future for the people of both countries and peace and stability in the region.
“This is a duty that history has given us, and we will carry it out,” said PM Shehbaz in an opinion piece published by the Chinese newspaper Global Times before his first trip to China, which starts tomorrow (Tuesday).
Shehbaz Sharif is one of the first foreign leaders to visit China after the Communist Party of China (CPC) voted for Xi Jinping for a third time as its general secretary at its 20th National Congress.
Confucius told his family and friends, according to Shehbaz, “There are three kinds of good friends: one who is direct and honest, one who is reliable, trustworthy, and generous when you need help, and one who is knowledgeable and skilled enough to guide you and show you what you can’t see.”
The premier wrote that the long-lasting friendship between China and Pakistan has all three qualities shown by the Great Master. He also said that longevity, love, and trust are good words to describe the friendship between China and Pakistan.
“There is no relationship like ours.”
He said that there is no relationship like ours that touches the souls of our people so deeply and makes them feel so strongly. He also noted that poetic and emotional language captures the essence of these beautiful ties.
“Moving stories of people helping each other and sticking together in hard times have become an indelible part of our collective consciousness, passed down from one generation to the next.”
He wrote that the seed of friendship between Pakistan and China has grown into an evergreen tree with deep roots and strong branches, adding that the charity has survived “vicissitudes of international upheavals and vagaries of domestic changes.”
He said that our relations with China are essential to our foreign policy.
The international scene has changed since the last trip:
Since his last trip to China, the global stage has changed in a way that is “unprecedented in its scale and scope,” the prime minister said.
“Geopolitical tensions are causing wars, the return of the ideological divide, the separation of the economy and technology, and a very expensive arms race. Sad to say, this is happening while a lot of people still have to deal with poverty, disease, and hunger “He put words on paper.
“People are still having trouble with COVID-19 and its aftershocks in many parts of the world. Climate change is a scary thing that is happening now and is getting worse. Pakistan was hit by devastating floods in the past few months “He brought out.
The prime minister said that the needs of the 21st century call for a new way of thinking to deal with new challenges and opportunities and move our region away from war and fighting.
“We want to have good relationships with our neighbours based on mutual respect and a willingness to work together. We also want to settle all outstanding disputes, including the Kashmir issue, peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy based on the UN charter and resolutions,” he wrote.
“Pakistan pledged to strengthen bilateral ties even more.”
In light of how things are going around the world, the premier said, “the China-Pakistan strategic partnership has become much more important.”
He called China a “natural partner.” He said that Pakistan wanted to strengthen ties between the two countries by “continuing mutual support on core issues, continuing efforts for regional peace and connectivity, and gradually advancing all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation to a new pinnacle of trust and close cooperation.”
He gave the example of how China’s support and solidarity with Pakistan after the COVID-19 pandemic showed how long-lasting our friendship was.
He then talked about how China helped Pakistan after the recent floods that killed many people there.
The prime minister said he was incredibly moved by the fact that children who watched images of floods in Pakistan gave their own money. “These moving stories show how much we care about each other and how close we are as people,” he wrote.
