Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Thursday, sources from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that the commission is “ready” to hold general elections by October.
They said that the ECP had finished drawing up the boundaries of the constituencies and that there were no more complaints about them. “Work has been finished in all national and provincial constituencies,” the sources said.
Before, the commission had promised the Supreme Court that it would finish dividing up the districts by August 4. (Today).
Sources say that the ECP will put out a list of voters and districts by the end of this month.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), which is mostly made up of political parties in the ruling coalition, like the PML-N, said last week that the next general elections would be held at the same time next year as planned.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the PDM, said, “General elections will be held on time, and the current government will finish its term.”
On the other hand, Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, said that clean and fair elections were the only way to end the political crisis in the country right now.
“Free and fair elections are the only way to get rid of political instability. When they took me out of office, I called for general elections, but the courts threw out my decision. I still think it was a good choice, “the previous prime minister had said.
