COAS visits to Swat flood areas

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited flood-affected areas of Swat on Tuesday to find out how evacuation and relief operations are going for people who are stuck in Kumrat, Kalam, and the surrounding areas.

ISPR says that 82 rescue and relief missions with helicopters have been sent to flood-hit areas of the country.

The ISPR also said that in the past 24 hours, 27 helicopter flights have rescued 316 people who were stuck and delivered 23.753 tons of food and other supplies.

Over the last 24 hours, 3,540 ration packs and 250 tents have been given to flood victims. The military’s media arm also said that 51 free medical camps have been set up and that 3,3025 people have been treated there.

The Army Flood Relief Coordination Center works under the Army Air Defence Command. Its job is to make sure that rescue and relief efforts are coordinated with other army groups.

All over the country, a total of 217 donation centers for flood relief goods have been set up where people can drop off and pick up goods.

So far, 122.87 tons of food, 5.9 tons of other food items, 0.15 tons of medicines, and other food items like clothes, solar lights, sleeping bags, etc. have been collected.

Help for victims of floods around the world

The ISPR says that seven military planes from Turkey carrying aid supplies have landed in Karachi, and three military planes from the UAE have landed at the Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi. These planes bring things like tents, medicine, and food to help people in need.

The ISPR said that two planes from China carrying 3,000 tents will arrive in Karachi today. Japan will also send shelters and tarps to Karachi today.

The ISPR also said that Canada has said it will help with $5 million, the UK has said it will help with £1.5 million, and Azerbaijan has said it will help with $2 million.
