Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that his trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which was supposed to happen on September 3, moved because of the flood situation in the country.
“I was set to visit the UAE on Sept 3 on the invitation of HH the President. We mutually decided to postpone the visit so that I could focus on the ongoing rescue & relief activities. We will forever be indebted to our brothers & sisters who have stood by us in this challenge.” PM wrote on Twitter.
He said that Pakistan would always be grateful to our brothers and sisters who stood with us through this challenge. The leader also said that UAE has started sending the first batch of $50 million worth of aid goods to Pakistan to help people who were hurt by the floods there.
PM Shebaz also said that UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan told him over the phone last night that the UAE would keep helping the people in Pakistan who were hurt by the floods.
The UAE government called Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday and promised to send 20 planes full of flood relief supplies to help the people there.
