Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Balochistan’s government said on Wednesday that 32 of the province’s 34 districts had been hit by calamities. Since the terrible rains started in June, at least 254 people have died in Balochistan and 1.3 million people had to move.

This was announced at a press conference by the adviser to the Balochistan chief minister, Mir Ziaullah Langue. Officials said that at least 10 districts were hit by the floods, which were unlike anything that had happened before. The floods destroyed crops and thousands of homes.

So far, Mr. Langove said, 29,000 people have been saved, 185,000 homes have been partially damaged and 64,000 have been completely destroyed by the floods. He also said that 500,000 animals died because of the floods.

He said that the government and NGOs have given 98,000 people enough food for a month and that 40,000 tents have been given to families who were affected by the floods. He also said that there would need to be at least 150,000 tents.

Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz said that the government has given Rs2 million to families of each 170 people who died in flood-related accidents. He also said that the cases of the remaining victims will be settled in the next few days.

Officials from the Irrigation department said that the five districts of the Nasirabad division were still under water. They called these areas the “green belt” of Balochistan.

Hundreds of families in the villages of that division were still stuck because the roads had washed away, making these areas inaccessible. But the government has been able to get them food and water through helicopter trips.

There is still no gas or electricity in Quetta and seven other districts. Engineers from SSGC started fixing broken gas pipelines on Tuesday. They were almost done fixing the 12-inch pipeline, but it would take at least two more days to fix the 24-inch main pipeline.
