Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Senator Sherry warned in Islamabad that there would be a health crisis in the areas hit by the floods because water-borne diseases would spread through the water.
At a press conference with Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar and Senator Shahadat Awan, she said that 72 of the 160 districts were flooded and had been declared disaster-hit areas. She said that the floods hurt 110 districts, which is about half of the country.

Sherry Rehman said it is a very dangerous time for the country and that at least 33 million people in need of clean water, cooked food, and basic medical care.
“We don’t have enough money right now, but we ask everyone to give as much as they can to reputable organizations. We have redirected our money to help with the relief effort, which includes the BISP cash transfers so that we can deal with the disaster right away. Still, it isn’t enough. In the face of this tragedy, we must all stand together,” she said.
When talking about rebuilding, the senator said, “The work of rebuilding has already begun in some places, but it will be a huge job.” If we want to rebuild better, we will need more than the $10 billion.
