Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Christian Turner, the British High Commissioner, said that the UK will give an extra £15 million to help flood victims in Pakistan to save their lives. This comes after devastating floods killed 1,186 people and flooded a third of the country.

Late on Thursday, the British diplomat used Twitter to say nice things about Pakistan. He sent out a tweet with a video message that said, “Another £15 million from the UK to Pakistan to help flood victims right away.”

Christian Turner starts his video message by saying in Urdu, “Pakistan Mein Selaab Ki Tabaahi Par Mujhy Dilli Afsos Hai” (I’m saddened by the damage the floods in Pakistan have caused, and I’m from Delhi).

“I am praying for the people of Pakistan and everyone who is helping them after the floods. He said the UK government is with Pakistan at this difficult time.”

British High Commissioner said, “Today, the UK government announced an additional £15 million for flood relief efforts. This brings our total contribution to £16.5 million, which is more than 10% of the UN and government of Pakistan’s flash appeal.”

He also said that this urgent help will be used to save and protect lives as long as the water keeps flowing through the country. It will include clean water and toilets, a place to live, repairs to homes, and basic health care, especially for women and girls.

The British diplomat said this shows how important the relationship between the two countries is and how important bilateral ties are.

“I’d also like to thank the people of Britain for working together to raise money for flood relief, including through the UK Disaster Emergency Committee’s (DEC) Pakistan appeal, which started today,” he said.

“These floods show us how fragile our world is. Our earth is our responsibility.”

A press release from the British High Commission in Islamabad on Thursday said that on September 1, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced help that could save lives.

UK foreign secretary said that £15 million in humanitarian aid will help people all over the country get shelter and other necessities.
