Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Senator Sherry Rehman, the Federal Minister for Climate Change, met with the US Congressional delegation led by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Monday. She told them about the current relief efforts and the help that is needed to rebuild the areas and people affected by the floods.
Congressman Tom Suozzi, Congressman Al Green, and US Ambassador Donald Blome were all part of the group. They promised full support to Pakistan during these hard times.
Federal Minister said, “The damage on the ground is much worse than what we saw in the 2010 floods. This time, though, we can’t find a dry place for our helicopters to land so they can bring help. We had a terrible start to the year, with temperatures in Sindh reaching 53 degrees and then being followed by heatwaves and three times as many GLOFs as usual.”

The South is still flooded, which puts people’s health at risk. Even though the government, NDMA, PDMAs, and the Pak Army are trying to help, we don’t have enough resources. There have been big effects on 33 million people. In this time of need, we have asked our bilateral and multilateral partners for help.
Minister Rehman said, “These floods that have been going on in Pakistan for 9 weeks now have had far-reaching effects.”
The US Congressional Delegation sent condolences and said they were very sorry for the deaths. They also said they were committed to helping Pakistan in these hard times and would try to get money from the US.
