Imran wants his own army leader: Khawaja Asif

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Khawaja Asif, federal minister of defense, said that Imran Khan, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), wanted to choose the next leader of the Pakistan Army.

Khawaja said that Imran Khan was making a fuss about who should be the next army chief as part of a “well-thought-out plan.”

On Monday, the PML-N minister said that government has the constitutional and legal right to choose the army chief and that it will finally do this job.

Khawaja Asif says that Imran Khan wanted to choose the army chief that he wanted. He said that the Army Chief won’t be chosen for another two and a half months. Minister said that the process for picking the top person in the army has not yet started.

Khawaja Asif said that Imran Khan had come to his home in Banigala to meet with people. Khawaja Asif said that the PTI people still want help from the US. He also drew attention to what Imran Khan said about the courts. “Imran Khan is now also going against our religious rules,” he said.

He said that the Punjab government could fall at any time because it is only held together by a small number of votes. Khawaja Asif said that there are grudges in Imran’s party. He also said that right now, neither Asad Umar nor Shah Mehmood Qureshi is willing to defend what Imran Khan said.
