Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s answer in the contempt case was “unsatisfactory” and that he, Fawad Chaudhry, and Asad Umar would have to appear in person on September 27.
A contempt case against Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, and Asad Umar was heard by a four-person ECP bench. Barrister Gohar and Faisal Chaudhry Advocate, who wrote the response, said that Imran Khan did not insult the Election Commission; instead, he only said things that made him worried about the role of the Commission.
“Election Commission has no power to hear the cases, and the Secretary of the Election Commission can’t send notices. The notice from the ECP goes against the Constitution, so it should be taken back,” it said.
Faisal Chaudhry told the judge that they had already gone to the Lahore High Court to fight the case. “The show-cause notice was sent by the secretary of the Election Commission, even though the law doesn’t require him to do so.
It is something that the Supreme Court has the power to do. The case is already going through the Lahore High Court, and the Election Commission is also a respondent,” he told the bench.

Faisal told the media that he had told the four-person bench that the ECP was not a court and therefore couldn’t send notices of contempt because it wasn’t a judicial platform.
Supreme Judicial Council has also received a legal complaint against ECP member Nisar Durrani.
“We have asked him to leave the bench that is hearing the case,” he said, adding that the ECP had put off making a decision on the case
In the contempt case, Lahore High Court (LHC) stopped the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from taking action against the PTI leaders.
Justice Jawad Hassan heard the PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry’s petition against the election watchdog’s contempt notice. The petition was filed with the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench.
During the hearing, Fawad’s lawyer, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, said that the ECP was not a court and that the “contempt of court provisions” did not apply to it because it was not a court.
Court then sent a notice to the electoral body on September 7 asking for a response and stopping it from giving a final order on the matter.
On August 19, the Election Commission told Imran Khan, Asad Umar, and Fawad Chaudhry that they had broken the law.
Meanwhile, PTI Senior Vice-President Chaudhry Fawad Hussain hinted on Monday that someone might try to kill Imran Khan because his political opponents haven’t been able to get ahead of him.
Fawad said that a group of journalists who work for the Strategic Media Cell had also made a video. He was joined by PTI Senator Sania Nishtar.
Fawad said, “All of these people are actually working to kill Imran Khan. They are small parts of the bigger plan, and they want to stir up religious hatred in the country.”
He said that Maryam Nawaz ran and paid for the Strategic Media Cell and that they didn’t mind using religion to get rid of Imran Khan.
“What Maryam Nawaz or Fazlur Rehman did today or the day before? They want to kill Imran because he’s not going to lose the election,” he said.
Fawad said that Maryam Nawaz’s media cell worked day and night to stir up trouble in Pakistan and that she also set the group’s goals.
“Time is always changing. They will have to answer for what they are doing right now,” he said.
Fawad said that the way some news channels were shut down for showing Imran’s telethon was very wrong. He also said that they would go to the Islamabad High Court to fight against the closures (IHC).
“The telethon wasn’t about politics, because the floods hurt a lot of people and the government and the media should have helped the PTI,” he said.
Fawad said that the PTI did two telethons for flood victims all by itself
