Web Desk (LTN NEWS): PM Shahbaz Sharif has arrived in the US to attend the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). There, he will speak for Pakistan on issues that need the world’s immediate attention.
On September 23, PM Shehbaz will talk to the 193 people in the Assembly during a high-level debate. He will also have a number of high-level bilateral meetings during his trip.
In a statement on Twitter today, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he had just arrived in New York a few hours ago to tell the world Pakistan’s story, which is one of deep anguish and pain caused by floods that killed a lot of people.
“In my speech to the UNGA and at bilateral meetings, I will make the case for Pakistan on issues that need the world’s attention right away,” he said.
Today, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Washington Masood Khan, and other senior officers met the prime minister at the John F. Kennedy International Airport.
On September 20, PM Shehbaz would go to a party hosted by Antonio Guterres, who is the head of the United Nations.

On the same day, he would also meet with President Macron of France, the chancellor of Austria, and the president of Spain.
PM Shehbaz will also meet with Charles Michel, who is the president of the European Union Council. He will also take part in the Global Food Security Summit, which will be hosted by the presidents of Senegal and the African Union.
On September 21, PM Shehbaz would meet with the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, and the head of the World Bank, David Malpass. He would also meet with the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi.
PM Shehbaz would also meet with the UNGA president and go to a dinner reception hosted by US President Joe Biden.
In addition to meeting with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, PM Shehbaz Sharif will host a lunch for the Turkish president and his wife.
PM Shehbaz will also meet with Microsoft founder Bill Gates and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He will also meet with Chinese President Premier Li Keqiang and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida.
On the same day, he would also meet with the prime ministers of Luxembourg and Malaysia.
On September 23, PM would speak at the UNGA session, meet with Malala Yousafzai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, and talk to major American media outlets.
