Marriyum Aurangzeb visits Arshad Sharif’s family

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Minister for Information, went to see the family of senior journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed last week, on Monday to express sympathy for their loss.

Sharif was killed in Kenya when police looking for a stolen car opened fire on the journalist’s car, thinking it was the stolen car, which was also thought to have a child hostage. This happened when the journalists’ car sped through a roadblock without stopping.

Aurangzeb told Sharif’s family that the government would not give up until justice was done, no matter what.

“Sharif was an hour away from Nairobi, which is the capital of Kenya. Kenyan police told Sharif’s car to stop, according to the first reports,” the information minister told reporters outside Sharif’s home in the federal capital.

The minister said that people should not make assumptions that are not true and that everyone should wait for the official investigation report from the Kenyan government.

The body of Sharif has been found. The minister said the journalist’s body should be returned as soon as possible, but nothing can be said for sure until Kenya gives its official response.

She also said that this was not a political matter. She said, “Using this issue for political gain is like committing a sin we don’t want to do.”

The minister of information said that more information would be shared as soon as it came in an hour.
