Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the former prime minister and head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that journalist and news anchor Arshad Sharif was killed in a “targeted attack.”
Arshad Sharif was allegedly shot dead in Kenya on Sunday night by the local police. The police later said they were sorry for an unfortunate incident. At first, Kenyan media reported that police killed Arshad Sharif because they mistook him for someone else and shot him.
People back home aren’t sure what to believe because the police in Kenya change their stories so often. But Arshad Sharif’s life was in danger, according to Peshawar’s former prime minister, who called his death a targeted killing. He said he died for something. Imran Khan told lawyers at a conference here that Arshad Sharif knew his life was in danger and was always getting warnings about it.
Along with other PTI leaders, the event was attended by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who used to be foreign minister, Shah Farman, who used to be governor, and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Imran had never been to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before, even though he had won three seats in the National Assembly from Mardan, Charsadda, and Peshawar.
“I asked him to stop, but he wouldn’t. He didn’t care about the threats and kept working as a professional, independent journalist, but in the end, he was killed on purpose,” Imran Khan said. He also said it didn’t matter what other people said because he knew he was killed on purpose.
The head of the PTI said that Arshad Sharif was brave and remembered him in the best way possible, saying that he never gave up his morals. He said that the journalist who was killed stood for justice, the truth, and what was best for the country. He noted that Arshad Sharif didn’t spare him and criticized him many times.

Imran Khan said that Arshad Sharif was a professional journalist who had shown proof that the Sharif and Zardari families were corrupt in his TV shows.
“No one could buy or scare him, but when he started exposing the current regime, he started getting calls from unknown numbers telling him to stop telling the truth,” Imran Khan told the lawyers’ convention.
“I had heard that they were going to kill him,” the former prime minister said. They broke into his Islamabad home and scared him in front of his family so he wouldn’t tell the truth.
He said that he had told Arshad Sharif that he should leave the country. “He wouldn’t go out of the country. Then I told him that I knew about it, just like I knew about a plan to kill me,” he said.
Imran Khan said that Arshad Sharif had left the country but was being called back because his visa for the UAE was about to run out. He hadn’t done anything wrong, but the worst thing he did was tell the truth.
Imran Khan said, without giving any names, that they planned to treat Arshad Sharif the way they treated Azam Swati, Shehbaz Gill, and Jameel Farooqi. Shehbaz Gill, Azam Swati, and Jameel Farooqi are all leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party (PTI). Recently, the Islamabad Police took them into custody for different reasons and then let them go.
On the other hand, Imran Khan said they were all stripped naked and tortured while in jail. He also talked about a person he didn’t know in Islamabad, called “Dirty Harry”, and said he stripped people naked to torture them.
In his speech, the leader of the PTI also asked the lawyers to help him set up the rule of law. I have no personal agenda.
He said, “I want this country to be run in a way that is democratic and legal.”
