Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Wednesday, Naseem Shah hit two sixes in a row, which helped Pakistan beat Afghanistan by one wicket and set up a title match with Sri Lanka.
Pakistan was in big trouble at 118-9, needing 130 runs to win, until number 10 Naseem hit Fazalhaq Farooqi over the fence twice in the last over in Sharjah.
It was Afghanistan’s second loss in a row in the Super Four, and it also took India out of the running for a spot in Sunday’s final.
Earlier, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and chose to field first against Afghanistan. This was part of their plan to make it to the finals of the Asia Cup 2022.
If Pakistan wins this Super Four match in Sharjah, they will play Sri Lanka in the final on Sunday and India will be out of the tournament. This tournament is a warm-up for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in October and November.
Pakistan is the same team that beat India before. India has lost both of its Super Four games so far.
At the toss, Azam said, “The pitch looks good, and the second thing is the dew factor. That’s why we’re going to bowl first.”
“We hope to get some early wickets and limit them. The mood is calm and cool, and we’ll try to keep going in the right direction.”
