FIA sends another notice to Imran Khan and Umar: Funding Case

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Sources at the FIA say that party leaders will get arrest warrants if they don’t respond to three warnings.

Friday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) decided to send notices to Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Asad Umar, the party’s secretary general, again in the case of the party’s illegal funding. Sources at the FIA say that party leaders will get arrest warrants if they don’t respond to three warnings.

Five more foreign companies that allegedly gave money to the former ruling party were found, but none of them were mentioned in the reports given to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) or the Federal Board of Revenue. The FIA investigation moved forward (FBR).

These businesses started up in the United States, England, Australia, Belgium, and Canada. Some of them have shut down, but others are still in business. The FIA has asked for the audit reports of the companies that have been shut down.

This week, the former prime minister, Imran Khan, said that he did not have to tell the FIA anything about the prohibited funding case.

In a written response to the FIA’s notice, the former prime minister said he is neither responsible nor required to give information about his personal bank accounts.

Anwar Mansoor Khan, who used to be attorney general, sent the reply on behalf of the party and its leader.

Imran also said that he would take legal action against the agency if it didn’t take down the notice within two days.

In his response, Imran said that the notice was a sign of bad faith on the part of the agency and that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had only made a report, not a decision, in the case of prohibited funding.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) sent notices to the respondents about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against the ECP’s decision in the prohibited funding verdict on August 24.

The case was heard by a panel of three judges led by acting chief justice Amir Farooq and including Justices Babar Sattar and Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb. The PTI was represented by lawyer Anwar Mansoor Khan.

During the hearing, Justice Farooq said that the court couldn’t stop the FIA from acting against the PTI based on facts, even if the former ruling party in the case got the ECP report thrown out. He said that FIA will only find out if there was any wrongdoing in this case.
