I am not answerable to FIA notice: Imran Khan

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former prime minister, did not answer the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) notice to him on Wednesday. This was because of the foreign funding case. The head of the PTI has said that he will sue the agency if it doesn’t take back the notice.

The Commercial Bank Circle of the FIA had asked the head of the PTI for information about bank accounts. Amna Baig is the deputy director of FIA’s Commercial Bank Circle in Islamabad. The former PM and his party wrote to her through his lawyer, Anwar Mansoor Khan.

“I am neither answerable to you nor required to give you information,” the head of the PTI wrote in his response to the agency. He also threatened legal action if the agency didn’t take the notice back within two days.

In his reply, Khan called the FIA’s act of sending him the notice “malicious” and said that the FIA had no right to ask his party for information and documents. He also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan would release a report, not a decision.

Khan also said that the ECP cannot order the FIA or any other group based on the report alone.

“According to the Political Parties Act of 2002, FIA does not have the power to take action,” said the head of the PTI, emphasizing that the notice and the act are in conflict.

Khan also said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that the ECP is an administrative institution for different decisions. In his answer, he said that the ECP is neither a court nor a tribunal.
