French ambassador visits Pakistan on flood situation

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Senator Sherry Rehman, who is in charge of climate change at the federal level, said on Tuesday that Pakistan needs help right away in the health field because there are likely to be outbreaks of water and vector-borne diseases like diarrhea, cholera, dengue, and malaria in flood-affected areas.

Nicolas Galey, the French ambassador, told the people of Pakistan that the French government will do everything it can to help them recover from the damage caused by the floods.

Sherry Rehman thanked the French government for its help and said, “We appreciate France’s help in these hard times, and we would need help in the recovery and relief process.”

The damage on the ground is much worse than anything we have ever seen, even during the floods of 2010. We have never seen a human-caused disaster on this scale.

More than 5,700 kilometers of metal roads and 246 bridges have been severely damaged in the 81 disaster-stricken areas. This has cut off communication lines, making it hard to send help and rescue people.

She told the French ambassador what help was needed in the areas that had been hit by floods.

“We need to rebuild the infrastructure that is flexible and strong,” she said.

People are fragile and vulnerable on the ground, where they are living under the open sky while waiting for help from the government. We need to get tents and medicine to them as soon as possible.

There are at least 650,000 pregnant women in the affected areas, and 73,000 of them are due to give birth next month.

This could cause a health crisis for women. Maternal health services are desperately needed in flood-damaged areas.
