UN Secretary-General to visit Pakistan for 3 days

Web Desk (LN NEWS): António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the UN, will spend three days in Pakistan this week, from September 9 to 11, 2022, to see the damage caused by the recent floods.

UN Secretary-General is going to visit Pakistan to find out exactly what is going on in the flood-affected areas of the country.

So far, the government has done an initial damage assessment and estimated that the total economic losses will be between $10 and $12.5 billion, top government sources.

UN Secretary-General would meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other ministers of the PDM-led coalition government during the upcoming visit of high-profile guests.

In his earlier flash appeal, UN Secretary-General said, “The United Nations is issuing a Flash Appeal for $160 million to support the response, which is being led by the Government of Pakistan. These funds will give food, water, sanitation, emergency education, protection, and health care to 5.2 million people.”
