Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that households that use up to 300 units of electricity will not have to pay more for FCA. He said this at a meeting in the federal capital with PML-N members of the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly.

The former government ruined the economy, the prime minister said, by lowering the prices of petroleum products through subsidies. The federal government said earlier that only homes that use up to 200 units of electricity will be exempt from FCA.

As fuel prices went up, people start protests to not pay their bills. On this, govt take action and remove the fuel adjustment charges from electricity bills.

PM Shehbaz said that 75% of consumers are not subject to the FCA. He also said that the FCA was raised in March because fuel prices went up.

The prime minister said, “The current government represents all of Pakistan’s political parties.”

When talking about the last government, the prime minister said that it let sugar be exported so it could make money and also gave it money. “The previous [PTI-led] government stole Pakistanis’ hard-earned money by giving out subsidies worth billions of rupee,” he said.

He kept criticizing the government led by Imran Khan, saying that it exported wheat first and then bought it back at a higher price. He also said that the previous government didn’t buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) when it was cheaper during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the current government had to pay more for fuel. However, the prime minister said, “We gave the people cheaper electricity.”

PM Shehbaz said that the current government did not make any promises to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). “The IMF told us to meet the rules set by the last government,” he said.

He said that if the country wants to stand on its own, this should be the last IMF program. “We still worry that the deal with the IMF could fall apart,” said PM Shehbaz.
