Web desk (LTN NEWS): Under the fuel adjustment charges that the government announced, the electricity bills of about 16.6 million people need to be changed. On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told the power distribution companies to change the electricity bills of up to 200 units within 24 hours, adjusting the relief under the fuel adjustment charge (FAC) that the government announced.
The premier led a high-level meeting to talk about the problems power users were having and set up a committee to look into them.
“The people who work for the companies that distribute electricity should work around the clock to make sure that the bills are changed,” he said.

PM Shehbaz told the right people to cancel everyone’s time off and give him a report right away. He also told them to make sure the government’s announced relief measures were carried out.
“The banks should also be told to stay open over the next few days so that people can pay their new electricity bills,” he said.
At the meeting, it was said that the PM’s announced package of aid should be put into place. Under the fuel price adjustment, the electricity bills of about 16.6 million people are being changed to help them out.
When talking about why electricity bills are so high, PM Shehbaz said that fuel adjustment charges, which are tied to the price of fuel on the international market, went up so much that extra fees were added to electricity bills.
“I was aware of this [increased electricity bills], and on the orders of [PML-N leader] Mian Nawaz Sharif, we have decided to remove extra charges from the electricity bills of 17 million of the 30 million people who use electricity,” the prime minister said.
He also asked for a look into the fact that shop owners and retailers were being charged more sales tax than agreed upon on their electricity bills.
