Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) told Imran Khan to help the police investigate a terrorism case against him. If he doesn’t, the court said, “Law will take its own course.”
PTI filed a petition with IHC to fight the terrorism charges against the party chairman for making inappropriate comments about a woman judge and police officials.
Islamabad Saddar Magistrate Ali Javed filed FIR an hour after the April event, and it included several sentences from Imran Khan’s Speech. It said that Imran Khan’s Speech in this form and style was meant to make the police, the courts, and the public afraid and panicked.
During today’s proceedings, the attorney general of Islamabad told the court that the Investigating Officer was not given access to Imran Khan, which slowed down the legal process even though the notice had been sent.
As he asked Imran Khan to work with him, IHC Chief Justice Minallah said, “These are not some gentlemen standing in front of you. Their uniforms are to be respected; they are symbols of the state.”
Imran Khan’s Lawyer said that three more crimes had been added to the FIR and that the case had been filed under false pretenses at the government’s request.
“We must have faith in the state system,” said CJ Minallah. “When this is done, rule of law will be established.”
In order to stop the police from giving Imran Khan a challan, the court asked the police to give the court a report of their investigation. CJ Minallah also told IO to tell the court whether or not terrorism charges should be brought.
The apex court’s division bench has put off the hearing until September 15. PTI chief’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, has told the bench that Imran Khan will work with them.
